animation backgrounds

I went a little crazy coloring this one. Im trying out different things and some of it works and some does not. I think Im going to do this one again and try to keep it simple like the rough drawing.

these are two kind of different ideas I had, not sure if I like them and all. the roughs were really small drawings, only 4 inches by 3 inches. I like the grass a little. but Im not crazy about them yet. would love some input if anyone wants to drop me a line.

Here are some rough backgrounds that I did the other night. I haven't painted these yet but I've started painting some others in photoshop and I'll post them next along with the roughs for comparison.
